I got my suitcases back today!!!!!!! Hurraaaaaaaaaaay! Finally all unpacked and settled in with all my stuff
Today I had my housing and life orientation at Uni, which didn't really tell us much more than we already knew but now I have the sheet to fill in to set up my monthly direct debit for my rent.
On the train;
After that I went for lunch in the University cafeteria and had some yummy udon in miso broth;
After lunch me and a dorm mate headed off to complete the alien registration procedure for foreigners and decided to forego the train back home and to take a long walk through the neighbouring districts.
The Japanese like their bicyles!!
Some very tall buildings nearby;
Did a shop for a snack stash earlier and luckily we live by a 'hyakku en' shop - a 100 yen shop, which is like the pound shop but better because all they sell most things and the food is great quality!
I got some 50 yen coin shaped biscuit things, bananas, potato chips in plain flavour and in mystery flavour but going by the picture on the from it is some kind of beef stew, some yogurts, some pancakes and some onigiri. I also got milk to put in my lovely British teabags which have finally arrived! I had the onigiri (rice balls filled with fish and wrapped in nori (seaweed)) for dinner and it was very yummy! I had a treat afterwards with a pancake which turns out was comprised of two pancakes filled with syrup and cream. Delicious!!
Onigiri up close;
Cute translation;
Some other miscellaneous pictures from today:
View of Tokyo tower from outside the University;
One of the entrances to the University;
Some sights from the streets in Tokyo;
The University crest on one of the buildings;
Street lined with lanterns;
Sayounara!

ReplyDeleteI'm sure the youtube video I saw last new year was from near the Tokyo Tower - was probably some drunken Keio Uni student.
Have you tried anything from the vending machines yet?
Was going to make a Star Trek reference about aliens but since you haven't watched the programme it will all be lost on you lol!
