I can't take a picture of outside because the rain doesn't show up very well on my camera...
All set to leave for my 2nd day of class and we get an e-mail telling us all today's classes are cancelled, and to keep an eye on the metrological agencies website. There is a typhoon due to approach this afternoon. I also live next to a river, eeeep!
Check here for up-to-date information if you so wish (for Kawasaki-shi) ;

The rain is stoatinggggg it down! At moment, i'm only nostalgic. Did I come back home in the night?? I'll keep you updated to let you know if it gets worse this afternoon.
But at least we get a break from the clammy. sweaty heat... i'm learning to look on the bright side. On the not so bright side, i'll have to brave a trip to the 'konbini' (convenience store) to stock up on food supplies. Sky News would have a field day here so I better hurry BEFORE THE COUNTRY RUNS OUT OF MILK, EGGS AND BREAD!!!!! or something equally as dramatic as sky news would have you believe....
*Update @ 4pm*
Okay guys, so while you've all been tucked up in bed, i've been experiencing my first typhoon, (from the comfort of my bedroom, thank god!) Rain doesn't show up very well on cameras so this is the best I can get but believe me, it's really bad! Think that time we got those horrible gails in Scotland at the start of the summer, and then triple it.
I googled 'typhoon' and it's essentially another word for 'hurricane.' I wish I hadn't googled it now!!
OMG you definately have had a tough couple of weeks. Delayed flights missing suitcases and now a typhoon.
ReplyDeleteJapan might be on the other side of the world but out press are still in panic mode. All the headlines are focusing on how Typhoon Roke heading for Fukushimo.
Looks pretty rough in sone areas a lot of flooding and people being rescued in boats.
Hope the water didn't get into your room much and the storm has calmed down by the time yo get up.

ReplyDeleteHaha I know, but I guess what doesn't kill you makes you stronger or something like that...
ReplyDeleteAt least we got a day off out of it!
Ended up with a random flip flop on my balcony that blew in during the evening haha.
